收到一台 TI-83 Premium CE 工程样机（DVT）
如题。在某网站收了一台TI-83 Premium CE 图形计算器，结果收到后发现是工程样机（背后有“DVT”字样），OS版本 5.0.0.0187，经测试连接到电脑端 TI Connect CE 也无法给这台计算器升级系统。所以来论坛咨询一下大家，工程样机有没有研究价值，硬件会不会有什么 Bug，不能升级系统会不会影响以后的使用。如果不适合日常使用的话，打算就去退货了。下面上传一些我收的这台 TI-83 Premium CE 工程样机的照片。

谢谢回复。卖家原图拍的很不清晰，收到后才发现背面DVT字样。没想到这么小众的机型还有工程样机流通到国内来。不能升级系统就没有折腾价值了。法文键盘倒影响不大，就几个单词不一样，熟悉了跟英文一样用。 Hi.

You could check the Boot Code version, since it's dealing with the update -> MODE ALPHA S
Also, could you start by dumping this strange OS ?

But CEmu should be much more easy.

To clarify the problem.
There are 2 generations of TI-83 Premium CE prototypes :
- K-DVT (2013)
- K-ELG2-DVT (2014)
And I know there are major hardware differences between them.
For example, OS versions 5.0.0.0058, 5.0.0.0059 and 5.0.0.0062 are working on 2013 prototypes, but failing (white screen reboot-loop) on 2014 prototypes and 2015 production models.
Although the error message is not very accurate, TI-Connect CE might be just trying to prevent you from installing an OS version incompatible with your 2013 hardware. 本帖最后由 stj2002 于 2017-6-8 01:46 编辑

I save the program as "ROMDumper.8xp" and send it to the calculator, then run it from the homescreen by pressing , and selecting the "Asm(" token, then select "DUMP" from the program menu. Unfortunately I get an error message on the calculator's display.

I just don't know how to use this program. So I can't dump the OS with it.Maybe I got a incompatible version of GTK+ but TiLP need a correct one?

Bad news: I tried upgrading to the TI-84 Plus CE OS 5.2 (use the OS file "TI-84_Plus_CE_5.2.2.0043.8eu") with TI Connect CE, and then the TI-83 Premium CE calculator turned into a brick. Is there any way to get it back to normal? Please help. Thank you very much.
Not really bricked.
But that's why I warned you about the 2 DVT prototypes generations incompatibilities, and why it would have been wise to complete the dumping first.
So what do you get ?
A calculator stuck on a white screen whatever you do ?
You can force the Boot Code OS update screen by performing a reset while holding 2 keys :
But of course, you'll have to send a compatible OS, and seeing how your DVT-EVT2 prototype is much older than our DVT-EVT3 which already had compatibility problems...
Try to send the oldest available TI-83PCE production OS : 5.0.0.0089 (which is still more recent than your 5.0.0.0187EVT2)

I've read your posts and seen your warning, but I thought that TI Connect CE would prevent the OS update of different models, then I found I was wrong. The TI-83 Premium CE calculator just received the TI-84 Plus CE OS file which TI Connect CE sent to it, and perform the update, then it stuck on a white screen whatever I do.
I tried your suggest by performing a reset while holding 2 keys : , but nothing happened with it. The calculator still stuck on a white screen. TI Connect CE cannot find the calculator, so I cannot send a compatible OS which your tell me to download. Is there anything wrong with my operation?

Maybe the combo was different on DVT-EVT2.
Also, on 2014 DVT prototypes and production models, there is a protection blocking 84+CE OSes on 83PCE hardware, and 83PCE OSes on 84+CE hardware.
So if you really tried to put a 84+CE OS on your 83PCE DVT-EVT2 2013 prototype, getting strange things may be normal.
Let's detail the process step by step :
- press and hold the reset button
- without releasing the reset button, press and hold the and keys
- without releasing the 2 keys, release the reset button
- if the calculator doesn't automatically turn back on, without releasing the 2 keys, type
This should trigger the Boot Code OS update screen.
If it doesn't work, try a slightly different combo :
- press and hold the reset button
- without releasing the reset button, press and hold the key
- without releasing the key, release the reset button

I tried the two methods, then I found that the second method (reset and press & hold the key) is work.
Then I use TI Connect CE to send the OS file "ti83pce_5.0.0.0089.8pu" to the calculator, then it works. But when the OS installing is complete, the calculator is still stuck on a white screen whatever I do. I reset the calculator again, but it is still not come back to normal.
Can I try it for another OS file if there is one compatible?

Apparently, the boot combo was changed to + later.

I am very sorry to make we lose a rare opportunity to dump the strange OS 5.0.0.0187. It's all my fault to make this rare TI-83PCE DVT-EVT2 2013 prototype into a brick. Now it cannot power on anymore, just display black screen.If I had been waiting for compatible dumping tools and didn't try to update the OS before dumping the OS file, it wouldn't have been this result.
In this case, at first I tried send the “TI-83_Premium_CE_5.2.1.0042.8pu” OS file, and "TI-83_Premium_CE_5.1.1.0112.8pu" OS file to the TI-83PCE DVT-EVT2 2013 prototype, through TI Connect CE software. All of them are incompatible. TI Connect CE software prevented the incompatible upgrade. Then I tried send the “TI-84_Plus_CE_5.2.2.0043.8eu” OS file through TI Connect CE software, but this time TI Connect CE software didn't prevent the OS upgrade, then I make the calculator into a half-brick stuck on a white screen whatever I do. All the OS file I used are come from TI's offical website.
Then I tried to unbrick the calculator. But I cannot find a compatible OS for this calculator. I should have dumped the OS file before, but I didn't. In the end, I executed a dangerous operation, which make it completely into a brick and cannot power on anymore. Now it cannot be recognized by Windows PC and TI Connect CE anymore, it just shown as an Unknown Device in Device Manager.
I just do not understand that: why TI Connect CE software block the upgrade of the OS file of TI-83PCE production models, but without preventing upgrade of the OS file of different TI-84 Plus CE production models.
In any case, I have made a lot of attempts and learned a lot. Fortunately, before the calculator turns brick, I have taken some photos of its screen display informations. And I got all the apps & archived vars from this TI-83PCE prototype via TI Connect CE software. I found that the ".8ek" file which get from this prototype is compatible to it, and TI Connect CE can send it back to the calculator. But the ".8ek" file which from TI's offical website and other forums is incompatible to it, and TI Connect CE cannot send it to the calculator. If these files are useful, anyone can get them from me (use private message please).
Soon after, I will upload some photos about the disassemble of this TI-83PCE prototype, you can see the PCB and main chips on it.
That's all I can share here. Hope to be useful to others.

不仅如此。
TI-83 Premium CE 与 TI-84 Plus CE 相比，具有以下不同点：
1.TI-83 Premium CE 仅在法国销售，而非在全球地区均有销售。
2.TI-83 Premium CE 采用法语的按键标记和法语用户界面（可切换至其他语言）。其键盘布局取消了 SIN、COS 和 TAN 键，取而代之的是像 TI-Nspire CX 那样的一个 trig 键——它可以打开一个用于输入三角函数的菜单。
3.值得一提的是，TI-83 Premium CE 从型号上来看比 TI-84 Plus 要低级，然而功能比同级别的 TI-84 Plus CE 还要强——TI-84 Plus CE 无法在运算结果中保留根式，而 TI-83 Premium CE 可以做到。

有的。看17楼那些 TI-83 Premium CE 的照片，屏幕显示的都是英文界面。MODE 设置里语言栏中就有 English 可选。
